Oranusi Adachukwu Rebecca, a determined 14-year-old JSS3 student at Dame Irene Okwuosa Memorial Convent, dreams of a future in Medicine and Surgery, with a particular passion for Dentistry. Her goal is clear: to help solve the often-overlooked crisis of oral health in Nigeria.

“Many Nigerians suffer from oral health issues, but they don’t get the attention they need,” she explains. “I want to change that by becoming a dentist who cares, educates, and treats.”

But big dreams often come with big challenges. For Rebecca and her family in Anambra State, the cost of education had become a growing burden, especially with siblings also in school. That changed when she received the Fabian and Patricia Okonkwo Scholarship.

“The scholarship helped ease the financial burden on my family,” she shares. “The money that would have gone to my school fees at DIOMECO has helped pay for my siblings’ fees too.”

With that support, the pressure on her parents has lifted, and Rebecca has been able to focus more on her studies. The scholarship hasn’t just kept her in school ,it’s made her a more confident, driven, and competitive student.

“It’s made me a better student,” she says proudly. “Now I push myself harder because I know someone is investing in my future.”

Rebecca’s story is more than a tale of academic success, it’s a story of purpose. Through the Fabian and Patricia Okonkwo Scholarship, she’s not just receiving an education; she’s being empowered to make a real difference in people’s lives.
