The Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation (SEOF) believes that education is a powerful catalyst for progress, empowerment, and long-term societal transformation. Over the past decade, we have witnessed first and how access to quality education equips young people with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to compete and thrive in an ever-evolving global landscape.

FAPO Scholarship Scheme

In 2023, the Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation (SEOF) launched the Fabian and Patricia Okonkwo (FAPO) Scholarship Scheme, a dedicated initiative designed exclusively for students of the Dame Irene Okwuosa Memorial Convent (DIOMECO).

Since its inception, the FAPO Scheme has awarded a total of ₦12,705,700 in scholarships to 36 outstanding DIOMECO students, reinforcing our commitment to rewarding academic excellence and empowering the next generation of female leaders.

Each year, 12 high-performing students at DIOMECO receive scholarship support:

In the 2023/2024 academic session, we awarded ₦3,624,700 to 12 students.
In the 2024/2025 session, we disbursed ₦3,753,000 to another 12 students.
For the current session, ₦5,328,000 has been awarded to 12 deserving students.

By investing directly in DIOMECO students through FAPO, we aim to remove financial barriers and unlock opportunities for brilliant young girls to pursue their dreams without limits.

Scholarship Impact Across Nigeria

Beyond FAPO, SEOF has a broader scholarship program that has supported young talents across Nigeria for over a decade. From primary education to university, the Foundation has awarded over 1,500 scholarships in the past 10 years.

These scholarships are targeted at students from underserved communities, ensuring that no promising mind is left behind due to financial constraints. Through consistent support, SEOF is building a pipeline of educated, empowered youth ready to lead and transform their communities.

Dame Irene Okwuosa Memorial Convent (DIOMECO)

Established in 2019, DIOMECO is an all-girls secondary school located in Oraifite, Anambra State, built and donated by SEOF to the Anglican Diocese of Nnewi. The school provides a safe, inclusive, and high-quality learning environment for up to 600 students from across the country.

Designed to promote holistic education, DIOMECO features:

An ICT room for digital skills
A modern science lab
A well-stocked library and integrated learning hub
A fully equipped art studio
Medical and sports rooms
A media studio for creative development

DIOMECO reflects SEOF’s mission to promote gender equality in education, ensuring girls have the tools and environment needed to succeed in the modern world.

STEM Career Awareness & Capacity Building

To close the gender gap in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), SEOF regularly organizes career workshops, seminars, and mentorship sessions for girls, particularly those attending DIOMECO.

These events expose students to:

Emerging STEM fields and technologies.
Role models and industry mentors.
Hands-on experiences and guided exploration.

Through these initiatives, we are equipping girls with the knowledge, confidence, and networks to pursue careers in STEM, breaking down systemic barriers and broadening their horizons.
