Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation

Healthcare

At the core of our mission is the belief that quality healthcare should be accessible to all, regardless of socioeconomic status.

Since its inception, the Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation (SEOF) has remained committed to this principle, providing free and subsidized medical care to underserved communities through a combination of medical missions, health fairs, individual medical sponsorships, and strategic partnerships in Nigeria and abroad.

Dame Irene Okwuosa Memorial Hospital (DIOMH)

In 2021, SEOF established the Dame Irene Okwuosa Memorial Hospital (DIOMH) in Oraifite, Anambra State, a world-class, fully equipped healthcare facility specializing in cardiovascular surgeries and interventions. The hospital is outfitted with cutting-edge medical technology, including:

  • A 124-slice CT scanner
  • A state-of-the-art Catheterization (Cath) lab
  • 4D ultrasound scan machines
  • ICU machines with ventilators

DIOMH was designed to deliver equitable, high-quality medical services to communities that need them most.

Strategic Partnership with VOOM Foundation

Our ongoing partnership with the Vincent Obioma Ohaju Memorial (VOOM) Foundation, a Texas-based organization of volunteer healthcare professionals, has enabled us to scale our impact. Through this collaboration, we have conducted seven biannual open-heart surgery missions at DIOMH.

Key achievements include:

  • 145 life-saving surgeries since May 2022, including:

    • 90 Adult Open-Heart Surgeries

    • 53 Pediatric Open-Heart Surgeries

    • 22 Pediatric Interventional Catheterizations (a first in Southeastern Nigeria)

    • 39 Adult Interventional Catheterizations

  • Vascular Surgery Mission conducted in October 2024

  • Over 32 open-heart surgeries in 2022 alone, accounting for 15% of all such surgeries performed in Nigeria that year

All surgeries were delivered either free of charge or at significantly subsidized rates.

Community Health Fairs

Launched in May 2022 with 258 participants, our biannual community health fairs have expanded rapidly reaching 4,545 beneficiaries by May 2025. These fairs offer comprehensive healthcare services, including:

  • Free treatment for tropical illnesses, infections, allergies, and nutritional deficiencies

  • Screening and management of malaria, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, hypertension, and diabetes

  • Optometry services, including vision tests and medication for eye disorders

Drug Donations

To strengthen healthcare delivery and public health infrastructure, SEOF has donated ₦45 million worth of medications to over 15 health facilities and teaching hospitals across Delta, Anambra, Imo, and Enugu States.
